Aside from the usual – looking for a new job and taking care of my furritos, I have been trying to travel. Went back to Chicago to visit my family over Father’s Day weekend. It was good times with the family and close friends. Chicago is one of the best cities to visit in the summer time. I promise you will have an amazing time!

My favorite Indian place in the city. CUMIN.

Chicago has the best Korean food, almost as good as LA and definitely better than NYC & Beantown.

Hot Doug’s! The line here is crazy! They even have foie gras hotdog but we didn’t get that. Best hotdogs ever.

XOCO! One of Rick Bayless’s restaurant. He has Frontera Grill in O’Hare Airport and we tried it on our way back to Beantown. Rick Bayless just took airport food to the next level!

@ Little Goat. One of Top Chef’s winner’s (Stephanie Izzard) second restaurant she opened in Chicago. Great atmosphere and food.

Those were a few of my highlights during the trip. SO much food and so little time and not enough space in my stomach 🙂

And lastly….GO BLACKHAWKS! Not a huge hockey fan but will always have LOVE for Chicago. Good luck tonight! Beat the Boston Bruins! #ChicagoLOVE ❤

Hopefully my next post, I will have some GREAT news for you 😉

Until then… Stay cool!

Today exactly one year ago, I moved from Chicago to NYC. My history with Chicago has been a long one. I was born and raised there with my family, lived both the suburb and city life. I knew Chicago inside out. When my ex and I broke up sometime in June 2011, I knew I couldn’t stay in Chicago anymore. Not because of him but because I felt like I was stuck in life. I mean, I thought I was going to marry my ex and live in Chicago forever. Once that dream was shattered, it was a wake up call for me. Hey, what do I have to lose? I always wanted to travel and be on my own and honestly, just be happy. This journey was really about finding myself and that cliche saying, “you only live once”. I am not going to lie. I was scared shitless. I was leaving my family, my job, my ex, my sweet dogs, and my wonderful friends.

Chitown girls are the sweetest and the best 🙂

Although I am in the East Coast now and don’t know for how long, Chicago you will always be #1 in my heart. This beautiful city will always be my home.

(The best skyline ever. Chicago)

Moving to NYC was the most amazing experience ever. What other city could I move onto after Chicago? I couldn’t lower my standards so when I took my next steps, I took BIG steps. Going to NYC was the best thing that happened to me. I had amazing friends that helped me out in NYC and my friends from Chicago were still there for me every step of the way (Thank you Kelvin! It means so much to me that you were still next to me every step of the way and rooting for me).

Although I am not in NYC anymore, I will always be proud of how I went for what I wanted: my happiness! I may not have my life figured out completely but at least I know to go for what makes me happy because in the end, that’s all that matters. So reach for your goals, your dreams, or even just great food if that makes you happy! Because when you’re not happy, life is sad, lifeless and empty…
